Dr. Pratip Chattopadhyay

Dr. Pratip Chattopadhyay is currently a Associate Professor and Head at the Department of Political Science, University of Kalyani, West Bengal. He has a teaching and research career spanning over 14 years. He has been convener of two international conferences (2015 and 2017) and co-Director of ICSSR sponsored Capacity Building Programme (2019) at the University of Kalyani and co-convener of two national seminars at MPISSR Ujjain (2019 and 2022).

He has published more than 55 articles in referred journals and edited volumes, ten book reviews including some in The Book Review. He has been invited by Universities in Bangladesh (Begum Rokeya, Jahangirnagar and Barishal) to discuss issues of Indian politics. He has presented paper at the 24th International Political Science Association Conference in Montreal in 2014. He is a regular political analyst in Bengali tele-media. Dr. Chattopadhyay is a regular invitee in national and international seminars. Part of his PhD work has been published in 2021 titled ‘Domestic Roots of Indian Foreign Policy and Marxist Political Parties: Experiences of UF Government (1996-98) and UPA Government (2004-08). He is an Associate at IIAS, Simla (2014-2016) and Executive Committee member of West Bengal Political Science Association since 2013. His latest coedited book titled Political Communication in Contemporary India: Locating Democracy and Governance was published from Routledge, London, in January 2023.

 

Dr. Chattopadhyay holds an M.Phil and Ph.D from University of Calcutta.
